Robert Kincade, M.D., received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, graduating magna cum laude. He completed his residency in general surgery at the University of California, Davis Medical Center and his residency in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the Texas Heart Institute under Dr. Denton A. Cooley.

Dr. Kincade is board certified in both general and thoracic surgery by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

Dr. Kincade is a Sacramento native and practices at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento.

He specializes in adult cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery.

He has a passion for saving lives and has expertise in many different types of surgeries including: primary and reoperative coronary bypass surgery, valve replacement and repair surgery, minimally invasive valve surgery, complex aortic disease repair surgery, arrhythmia correction (MAZE) surgery, minimally invasive thoracic surgery and lung cancer surgery.

Dr. Kincade is the surgical director of the Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Assist Device programs at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento. He is highly praised for bringing surgery for advanced heart failure to the Sacramento region.

Dr. Kincade is also a prominent figure in his field for his work with the ventricular assist device (VAD). He is regionally recognized for leading the Heart Failure Program for the Implantable VAD and his work with the VAD in developing the Abiomed Center of Excellence.
